Robert McNeill Honored for History Paper

Robert McNeill of Clay, AL was an award winner in the annual history essay contest sponsored by the Birmingham Center of Colonial Dames of America.These are awarded to Samford University students who write outstanding essays on subjects involving our Colonial history.

McNeill won 4th place and a $600 cash award for Abolition in Brazil and the United States: A Comparative Study. McNeill is a senior history major.

The papers were judged from those written in the fall semester Samford history classes.

Honorees were recognized at an March 26 luncheon hosted by the Colonial Dames. Samford history department chair Dr. S. Jonathan Bass presented the awards. A bound volume of the papers will be housed in the Samford library.
