Located in suburban Birmingham, Samford was founded in 1841. The university enrolls 5,758 students from 48 states and 22 countries. Samford offers 95 undergraduate and 75 graduate degree programs through 10 academic units: arts, arts and sciences, business, divinity, education, health professions, law, nursing, pharmacy and public health.

Samford University Hosts Minority Youth Science Academy

Samford University recently hosted the Minority Youth Science Academy, offering college preparation and mentoring for high school students interested in careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) programs. This year, 29 students attended.

Alabama Governor's School Awards

Samford University welcomed 89 of Alabama's best and brightest high school seniors as they attended the 31st annual Alabama Governor's School (AGS) program June 17-29. AGS participants are nominated by their schools on the basis of academic ability, leadership qualities, creativity and community service. Selection is also based on teacher and guidance counselor recommendations and written essays. At the end of the program, awards for outstanding male and female student were given.
